The Idiot Box

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am talking about the good 'ol television when I say "Idiot Box." That's exactly what it is. It's pathetic to watch the total fucking idiots who practically devote their entire lives to that damn thing. I'm not just talking about your run-of-the-mill bored housewife who sits around watching soap operas and Oprah every day. No, I'm talking about everyone, even the very smart people of the world who sit around and allow that thing to become their sole means of entertainment.

No, I'm not coming out as an Anti-TV nut who thinks television is "of the Devil" or some bullshit like that (those people are just wacko). There's absolutely nothing wrong with a little television. It's fun, it's entertaining, and it's even educational. But, as the saying goes, all things in moderation! Too much of anything is a bad thing. That goes double for sitting around staring a fucking screen for hours on end.

Have you ever taken the time to stop and really look at someone while they're watching their favorite TV show? Just observe them for a few minutes. Every thought they think and every emotion they feel is completely dictated to them by whatever's on. Someone engrossed in a movie looks, frankly, like a fucking retard getting hypotized.

This phenomenon comes from lazy ass parents. Parents find the TV a very convenient babysitter and it's what their children become acustomed to as their own pacifier. Instead of reading a book to their children of even just letting their kids play, parents for the past few decades have found it far too easy to just sit their kids down in front of that damn idiot box and be done with it. Of course, it's easy for this generation of lazy parents, isn't it? You don't have to spend time with your kids or encourage them to do anything productive. Why bother when you can just sit them down in front of a flashing box so they'll just shut the hell up and leave you alone? That's the whole point isn't it? Most parents just want their kids to leave them alone, after all. I'm amazed that people bother having kids anymore, to tell the truth.

But, lest you think I'm just going off on an anti-parent rant, let's not forget about the kids... Oh, indeed, the children are to blame as well. In fact, even with the best parents in the world, it's hard to keep your kids away from the idiot box. Not that I'm saying they should be kept away entirely, but the level of TV time kids devote themselves to these days is way off balance with other things.

So, is it any wonder that we now have a generation of people who blindly follow and obey the every whim of popular media? I mean, when you consider that today's young to middle-aged adults were raised by the media, it really comes as no shock exactly WHY we live in a society of blind sheep.

Let's review for everyone:

Parents: Get off your lazy asses and interact with your children! Don't just expect the TV to do your fucking job for you!!!

Kids: Get off your lazy asses and fucking DO SOMETHING!!! Stop relying on the damn idiot box to tell you what to think and feel!

Society: You suck - period.
